for keeping me sane , and those two ladies who
can actually LAUGH and be ENTERTAINED at doing maths xD

Picture of the Day
This immense ball of half a million stars older than the Sun lies over 30,000 light-years away. Cataloged as M3 (and NGC 5272), it is one of the 150 globular clusters that roam the halo of our Milky Way Galaxy. Even in this impressively sharp image, individual stars are difficult to distinguished in the densely packed core, but colors are apparent for the bright stars on the cluster's outskirts. M3's many cool "red" giant stars take on a yellowish cast, while hotter and pulsating variable stars look light blue. A closer look in this deep telescopic view also reveals a host of backgroud galaxies. Itself 200 light years across, the giant star cluster is relatively bright, easy target for binoculars in the northen constellation Canes Venatici, The Hunting Dog, and not far from Arcturus.

Picture of the Day

I took this picture of the bright Moon (yes , Moon) in an early night ,
surrounded by spectacular layers of clouds , through a thin layer of morning haze .
Here we can see differing altitudes of clouds separated by their degress of
"reddish hue" .
The reddest ones are low altitude clouds , followed by slight hue-ed mid altitude clouds
and then the whitest high-alt clouds .
An overexposed Moon and night sky reveals these brilliant features in the night sky
not visible to the naked eye .

i had a quite a few "complaints"

(sorry about this , if it seems a bit off tangent or as common tongue and mind interprets , "emo")

today was a roller coaster .
i dont know . i used to hate these three words .
as superficial as it seems , i dont know - may just be
what drives us onwards .

school and lessons was actually pretty decent ,
i was rather taken aback when Ms Seah didnt reprimand
Mao and I for skipping the maths lecture .
well ,
we had a perfect excuse - we were doing maths in the library ,
for the better .

im taking a different approach on
the march to the A's now .
unconventionally
i am going to do things my way now ,
i am going to learn
i am going to practice
i am going to understand
i am going to realise
the things i never did before for the past two years ,
on my own .
(of course with the help of teachers and tutors ,
i mean just , not the usual method of drilling and revising)

kind of too late to approach the exams
in a different way now .
but
i know this method , is the best for me now .
and of course , what i think best for getting what i worked for .

had a good , long emotional talk with cheryl , dominic and hong siew after
an extremely long basketball session .

i realised that , sub-consciously or consciously ,
i was avoiding things in my life .
now im going to take a different approach .

avoiding doesnt seem to be solving things ,
or giving an explanation to things .
neither is it making anyone's life any easier .

my avoiding seems to be
the sublimal switch off of emotions and reactions .

hey ,
emotions dont seem that bad actually .
apart from the excessive and unnecessary output and display of emotions
that i still detest ,
the acceptance of emotions , and taking it into my strides ,
seems to be rather helpful in dealing with things .

the three "inner solar system" planets .
apart from Mars being "superior" , Venus and Mercury are closer
to the Sun than it is to the Earth , thus they are "inferior" planets .
Beyond Mars lies the Gas giants , Jupiter Saturn Neptune Uranus , seperated by a giant asteroid belt .
from this brilliant image of the sky region , we can clearly see the
well exposed Mars and Mercury giving off a reddish hue , due to their atmospheric composition .

to watch this movie , under the assumption that
they arent as action-and-thrill fetish as me .

plot was slightly hard to catch on ,
but overall , this movie is entertaining ,
though slightly disappointing .
im hoping for a sequel .

anyhow , Vin Diesel , as always ,
delivered his finesse in handling such genre of movies .

it is indeed his best . (though not his best performance)
hes still my idol :D

This picture of the Jupiter region of the sky tonight show's the gas giant's natural satellite system , along with the stars in the 1.72 degrees field of view region of the sky . here , enlarged at the bottom right of the picture , you can see Jupiter's largest 3 moons
(Ganymede , Io , Europa) .
This satellite system is similar to our planet Earth's one , just that we only have a single satellite , the Galilean Moon of ours .
Attached to the top left hand side of the picture , is an image of the exact similar portion of the sky region taken of Jupiter at approximately the same time .
One can see that the moon's of Jupiter had changed its positions as it rotates around its mother planet .
You can spot Jupiter on your own now in this season , as it hangs high up in they sky at night , and it is probably the brightest non-blinking star you can spot in the dark night sky .

BLOG OFFICIALLY REVIVED .
ive been trying to lemonade some time out of no time ,
and finally managed to squeeze some out .

though i do have some reasons for doing so ,
such as using this blog as a primary site
to publish my astronomy and sky photos .

i'll say , i'll try to post ONE pic a day .
at least to start me off .
bring in some viewership .
AND most importantly ,
keep me motivated to
1)take more shots .
2)BE ACTIVE ON MY BLOG

this spectacular image of the waxing gibbous Moon taken on a lonely yet clear morning reveals detailed features of the moon on a moderate scale . on the bottom left of the Moon , the Crater Tycho is probably the most identifiable feature on the moon . Tycho is (relatively) young , at an estimated approximate of 108million years old . Tycho is 85km wide , 4.5km deep , and is probably created due to a huge meteorite or comet's impact onto the atmosphere-less Moon .
this image has been digitally enhanced to show the contrasts of moon's surface .

back to me .
exams are over , and coming .
im currently in the "bridging" period after the prelims and
before gearing up full for the A's .
too hyped due to the end of the exams , and too complacent to prepare for th next one .

well in no time , i do believe most of us will start going on fourth gear .

going out late in the night for imaging , sweating my butt out ,
getting checked by the police sometimes for wielding a large swinging
machinery capable of magnifying the moon 750 times , losing a few screws here and there ,
have turned out to a mixed of emotions .

it IS stress relief , very .
and i've met many nice people doing so , such as a lawyer who had a childhood astronomy passion but was unable to pursue it . and (yes including the curious police mans) .

even passersby who glanced at me with those curious eyes , staring into the space and checkin out what im looking at is interesting .

but yeah , i cant go out much now anymore due to the exams .
but ive got SO much i wanna do with the scope and of course , many others .
such as buying a electric guitar , going on a well-deserved holiday etcetra .

gotta get going , headache is grinding me .
